Anna supportive of Jan Lokpal: Kejriwal

NEW DELHI: A day after Anna Hazare took potshots at his one-time disciple Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister and other senior members of the Aam Aadmi Party dropped in on the Gandhian at Maharashtra Sadan on Sunday night in what AAP described as a courtesy call.

Sources said that Kejriwal, accompanied by PWD minister Manish Sisodia and senior party member Sanjay Singh, spent about 20 minutes with Hazare. "It was not an official meeting. Anna asked Kejriwal how the government was doing. Kejriwal specifically discussed the Jan Lokpal and Swaraj bills with him. Anna seemed supportive," said a source.

On leaving Maharashtra Sadan, Kejriwal said that Anna was "supportive".

He said: "I spoke to Annaji about Lokpal and Swaraj and he extended his support. We will go ahead with our bid to pass the Bill. We don't have differences when it comes to fighting for Swaraj and Jan Lokpal. It is what we have been doing for so long. He asked me about the current format of the Bill and I explained it to him."

Anna and Kejriwal parted ways in 2012 on the issue of formation of a political party and Anna has been openly hostile to Kejriwal since then. On Saturday, he referred to Kejriwal while praising West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee saying she was "unlike some ministers who said they won't take vehicles or bungalows but took them".
