Muzaffarpur court issues body warrant against Nirmal Baba
MUZAFFARPUR: First class judicial magistrate Ranjula Bharati on Wednesday issued a body warrant against Nirmaljit Singh Nerula alias Nirmal Baba
for his production in the court here on March 3 in a complaint case
which alleges that he was cheating the public in the name of religion.
The court has directed the police commissioner of Delhi
to arrest Nirmal Baba and ensure his production in the court on the
fixed date. The body warrant was issued when the summon notice issued to
the religious preacher on September 9 last year became ineffective.
The case had been filed in the court of chief judicial magistrate by
local lawyer, Sudheer Kumar Ojha, on April 16, 2012. Ojha had alleged
that Nirmal Baba had declared himself as 'bhagwan' (God) and was
cheating the public. The Baba was advertising himself through 35 TV
channels and had collected Rs 235 crore from the innocent public. He
collects Rs 2,000 from a person desiring attendance at his "samaagam"
(meeting with the public) and compels everyone to pay 10 % of his or her
earnings, the complainant had alleged.
The court had taken
cognizance of the case under sections 417 and 298 of the IPC and had
issued a summon to him for his physical presence in the court. But, on
his failure, the court has issued body warrant through Delhi police commissioner to arrest him and ensure his production in the court.
