constable commits suicide at minister's house
BANGALORE: A Karnataka State Reserve
Police (KSRP) head constable allegedly committed suicide at Anugraha, the official
residence of IT&BT minister SR Patil, on Tuesday night.
G Naniyappa Gowda, 55, attached to KSRP I battalion, was on night duty at Anugraha. He hanged himself from the grill of the staircase leading to the restroom behind the house, police said.
Gowda, from Dharmasthala, was a diabetic and suffered from other health ailments too. No suicide note was found. "Gowda's colleague Dalvai, who reported to duty on Wednesday, discovered the body around 9am and alerted High Grounds police. We found a bunch of tablets," police said.
Gowda is survived by his wife Jayashree, son Vikram, a BCom student, and daughter Chaitra, studying in class VIII.
The body was handed over to the family after postmortem at Bowring Hospital.
