Woman hires brother to kill alcoholic hubby

HYDERABAD: Unable to put up with the daily harassment of her alcoholic husband, a housewife hired her brother for Rs 5,000 and got him killed. The incident, which happened on May 1, came to light on Sunday when the victim's family lodged a complaint with police.

The victim was identified as M Satyanarayana, a construction worker from Sanjay Gandhi Nagar in Shapur Nagar of Dundigal. Satyanarayana had married Vijayalakshmi, who hails from his native place Gandrapally village in Medak district, a year ago.

On April 28, the couple went to their native place to cast vote in the general elections and they returned to Shapur Nagar on April 30 night. After returning to the city, Satyanarayana's phone remained switched off. When Satyanaraayana's brother Ashok asked Vijayalakshmi about his brother's whereabouts on May 1, she told him that five persons had taken her husband with them to discuss some loan matter.

As Satyanarayana remained untraceable for a few more days, his family members summoned Vijayalakshmi to Gandrapally on May 9. When confronted by her in-laws, Vijayalakshmi told them that with the support of her brother Ramu, she hatched a plan and got her husband killed. They then took Vijayalakshmi to the Dundigal police station on May 10 and lodged a complaint against her.

Based on the confession of Vijayalakshmi, the Dundigal police retrieved the decomposed body of Satyanarayana from an isolated place at Bahadurpally. Vijayalakshmi told police that for Rs 5000, her brother Ramu, with the assistance of his four friends, had murdered Satyanarayana by throwing boulders on his head.

Police arrested Vijayalakshmi and produced her in court on Monday. A man-hunt was launched to nab the other offenders.
