Two blasts at Chennai station; 1 woman dead, 7 injured

Chennai: Two bomb blasts at the busy Chennai Central Railway station killed one woman and injured seven others on Thursday morning.
The explosion happened as the Bangalore-Guwahati Express approached
Platform No. 9 of the station. At about 7.15am, the bombs exploded,
ripping apart two railway compartments, while killing a 22-year-old
passenger named Swati and injuring seven others, confirmed a top police
official.
The blasts created panic among passengers, as trains
plying to various destinations were stopped. Security was tightened
around the central railway station and the Egmore railway station.

“Bomb experts have been called to examine; investigations on the bombs are being done,” said a top police official.
