Anna supporter attacks Kejriwal in Haryana, AAP leader calls for peace

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal was reportedly attacked by a man, who claimed to be a supporter of anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, during his election rally in Haryana on Friday. The attacker has been arrested. The attacker, identified as Satinder of Lehga village in Bhiwani district, who is an unemployed law graduate, got near the open vehicle in which Kejriwal was travelling during the road show and tried to hit him.
Aam Aadmi Party supporters retaliated by beating the attacker. The incident took place in Charkhi Dadri.
The assaulter was carrying a bag with a black flag in it. He was taken away by police who were present at the spot.
He told police he wanted to show the black flag to Kejriwal in his face.
The former Delhi chief minister was hit near his neck, but he was not injured.
Soon after the incident, Kejriwal tweeted, "Someone hit me hard on my neck jst now. This kimd of violent reaction is expected of them. It only shows their true character n desperation".
"Our supporters beat him up in retaliation. That is very wrong. That is not expected of us," Kejriwal said in a tweet. "I am deeply hurt by the reaction of our supporters. If we also react violently, then what is the difference betn them and us?," he said.
Asking his supporters not to indulge in violence, Kejriwal said AAP's movement will be "finished" if his supporters retaliate to such attacks.
"If we ever become violent, the movement wud be finished.
So, please please please, in future, if anyone hits us, including me, we shud be nice to him," he said in an appeal to AAP supporters. This is not the first time when the Aam Aadmi Party leader has been attacked. Earlier, black ink was thrown at him during a road show after he reached Varanasi to take on BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Kejriwal was proceeding slowly in an open vehicle when he was targeted.
The ink stained his face and clothes and the clothes of senior party leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh.
