Centre to decide on sugar exports by month-end
Gargi Parsai
NEW DELHI: The Centre will take a decision on allowing export of sugar under the Open General Licence after it assessed the sugarcane crushing towards the end of the month. Cane crushing has been delayed in parts of the sugar-growing States of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat, owing to rainfall.
Speaking to journalists here on Thursday, Union Agriculture and Food Minister Sharad Pawar said that he would take a call after November 21, by when he would get a report on sugar crushing.
